Your health is one of your most important assets in leading a productive and meaningful life and regular teeth cleaning and exams is one of the best ways to manage your oral health. Dr. Carson and his team will assist you in developing and understanding of your oral health and the means available to solve problems you may be experiencing or are likely to experience in the future. The first important step in understanding your oral health is a comprehensive exam.

Comprehensive Dental Exam

The comprehensive teeth cleaning and evaluation you receive in our office may be unlike any you have experienced before. The approach will be thorough and comprehensive. You will be encouraged to ask questions and voice concerns throughout the process. Dr. Carson will seek to understand your current oral condition and the underlying factors that affect your oral health. Keep in mind that disease, nutrition, occlusal function (your bite), accidental injury, your genetic makeup and even more factors affect your oral health.

Teeth Cleaning

The hygienist will spend time discovering how you care for your teeth and might discuss alternate methods that may be helpful for your unique situation. The cleaning will consist of removing both hard and soft deposits from your teeth, greatly reducing the amount of bacteria near the gums and the teeth followed by polishing your teeth. This will help return your gums to a state of health.

Gingivitis & Gum Treatment

The mildest form of gum disease is called “gingivitis.” If you have gingivitis your gums will redden, swell and bleed easily. There is usually little or no discomfort to begin with so it can easily sneak up on you. Although gingivitis is often caused by inadequate oral hygiene, statistics show that up to 30% of the population may be genetically susceptible. Gingivitis is a serious infection that requires attention.

Deep Teeth Cleaning

The phrase “deep teeth cleaning” is often referring to scaling and root planing also known as active periodontal therapy.
